This design explores an open plan living and entertaining space overlooking the tranquil Water of Leith, connected to a large balcony by sliding glass doors. The extension will be built of lightweight glass and steel to sit above eighteenth century stone vaults.

By angling the roof upward, sunlight will penetrate into the depth of the space over the tops of trees that line the opposite riverbank.
