Victorian Refurbishment

Merchiston, Edinburgh

Refurbishing this Victorian property entailed breathing new life into it while reinstating period details such as panelled doors and working shutters. A white marble and polished iron fireplace, complemented by a specially commissioned mirror, were introduced to provide a focal point to the living space.

Contemporary, high specification, kitchen and bathroom fittings provide twenty first century convenience. Clean lines, carefully considered layouts and subtle use of mirrors make the best use of the space.

The owner wanted to establish a sense of calm which is achieved through a restrained palette of materials. Furniture and fittings consist of brushed steel with fabrics of soft grey and duck egg blue.

Thanks to Kris, a dull and dated property was transformed into a modern, tranquil space whilst retaining all original features.
